How often do I need acupuncture?

This is a question that I get asked quite a lot. The answer varies so much from person to person and what you’re coming to clinic for. Some acute pain and musculoskeletal problems can be sorted after a couple of treatments. I’ve had patients who can barely walk into clinic walk out feeling so much better. If the issue if more chronic it can take longer and a few more sessions. Acupuncture is a gentle treatment that builds on each treatment, so results can take time.

For my fertility and IVF clients I tend to use a set protocol which has solid research behind it. Before starting IVF it’s beneficial to come for acupuncture around 3 months before IVF starts, as the follicles that will be stimulated start developing at around 3 months before. So what you do it that time is so important. We also give you advice on diet and supplements at this vital time. I recommend coming weekly or every other week in the 3 month build up. Then weekly during IVF, with a double session on transfer day.

I also have regular patients that like to come for monthly for a top ups to keep their health problems at bay. This way we can treat anything that crops up before it becomes a bigger health problem. This can be to help with anything from hormonal balance to back pain, migraines and general pain relief.

If you have any questions about your health and how acupuncture could help, and how many treatments you might need please get in touch with me for a chat.
