Vaginal Microbiome training at Vagiversity.

New training in genourinary health.

I have started a new course, with the best name ever! Vagiversity It’s a six-month course with the best in the business, Moira Bradfield, what she doesn’t know about the vagina isn’t worth knowing.

It’s digging deeper into treating and diagnosing genitourinary health issues such as thrush, BV, AV, ureaplasma, Strep A, Strep B and cystitis. Anyone who has suffered from these issues knows they can be really tough to get rid of and can sometimes be recurrent. Antibiotics can treat them, but unless the right strain of antibiotic it can come right back again. This is because they are often misdiagnosed and mistreated. Having the right tests and treatments is key to healing these infections. These infections can also have an impact on fertility, as they can can spread into the uterus and impact implantation. So part of my treatment process is sending for vaginal microbiome testing to check that everything is at optimal levels, as often these infections can be symptom free.

Having a healthy vaginal microbiome is all about maintaining the balance of protective lactobacillus., Lactobacilli are extremely important for vaginal health due to their protective and antimicrobial functions. Lactobacilli produce lactic acid, creating an acidic environment, this keeps the PH levels between 3.8-4.5 which is within the optimal range for the vagina.

It’s such an interesting course, I can’t wait to start using this stuff in the clinic. If you want to know more about this treatment and testing please email me to find out more.
